今日は予選。参加48チームは8つのグループに別れて、グループ毎に総当たりで各チーム5試合をこなす。自分らはグループB。
Today was a qualification day. Registered 48 teams were randomly divided into 8 groups, and each team played 5 games against the teams from the same group; our team was in group B.
Game 1
5 – 0 Hamburg (Hamburg, Germany)
ドイツはハンブルグのルーキーチーム。ストレート勝ち。
A rookie team from Hamburg, no problem.
Game 2
5 – 0 Basel International (Basel, Switzerland)
可愛い女の子のチーム。ストレート勝ち。
Pretty girls’ team, no problem.
Game 3
2 – 2 DBAA (Rouen, France)
フランスはローエンのヤングなチーム。若さを武器にアグレッシブに当たって来るから怖い。途中で一発でかいクラッシュくらってからは無理せずにプレイして結局ドロー。
Young guns from Rouen, France. These boys play quite speedy and aggressive. After a big crash from one of them, I tried to play a bit easier.
Game 4
3 – 2 Iron Ponies (Geneva, Switzerland)
今年のホームであるジュネーブのチーム。あまり知られてないがバイクポロに関してジュネーブは欧州屈指。Clementっていう速い奴を適度にマークしながら、カウンターで3点奪取して辛勝。
One of the Geneva’s home team. For your information, Geneva is one of the best bike polo city in Europe. We kept our eyes to Clement, the fastest one in the team and won scoring 3 goals by counter attack.
Game 5
1 – 0 Malice International (London, UK)
去年の準優勝チームで、ロンドンでも指折りの強豪とのマッチアップ。テクニックとフィジカルがあるもののスピードではこっちが上なので特に問題なし。ただディフェンスのカバーリングがさすがに上手くて1点しかとれずに終了。
Tough game against last year’s vice-champion, one of the best teams from London UK. What we lacked in technique and physical, we made up for in speed; however, they were organized so well to defense that we couldn’t score more than 1 goal.
以上1日目は4勝1分け、Bグループ首位で予選通過。3日目に続く。
After all, we won 4 games, tied 1 game, and went through to the final round as a top of group B. To be continued to day 3.
