RAIという巨大なトレーディングセンターに、オランダ中から色々なファッションブランドが一堂に介する。
The whole dutch fashion brands came over to RAI, the huge trading center.

ただし、大多数はマスマーケット向けのカジュアルなブランド。
However, most of the participants were casual brands aiming low profile mass market.

中には目を引く物もあるが、正直な所全体としては面白みに欠ける。
Overall the fair was not quite from design/creative point of view, but some good stuff were certainly there.

CNCカット済みの鉄板の廃材をつなげあわせて、休憩スペースの間仕切りに。
Combining left over steel sheets from CNC cutting into a divider for the relaxation area.

残念ながらディスプレイとして使われている自転車はこのコキタナイ1台のみ。さすが流行に疎いオランダ。
Unfortunately, there was only one bike found as a display object. Dutchies don’t care about trend at all? well..

あとはメディア系の人とかと情報交換を。
And some information exchange with peeps from media etc.

ここ最近頻繁に会っている2人、Morse Codeのルードと290sqmのジェレミー。このユニットでプロジェクトが進行中。
2 guys I see quite often these days; Ruud from Morse Code and Jeremy from 290sqm. Currently working together for something good.

This little shop located on St. Paul street is worth a visit.

デザインリソースにうってつけのヴィンテージ雑貨が山盛り。
Tons of vintage goodies aka design resource in the shop.

このお店を教えてくれたのがグラフィックデザインスタジオBe-PolesのAntoine。
The shop above was recommended by Antoine from graphic design studio Be-Poles.

そのBe-PolesがCIを手掛けたセレクトショップMerci。
Be-Poles did CI for the lovely select shop Merci.

雨の降りしきるイタリアへ。

My man Cento was kind enough to invite me to his hometown Treviso in Veneto region of Italy.
マイメンのCentoが彼の住むヴェネト州はトレヴィゾに招待してくれました。

Cento is one of the dopest dudes I’ve met. Being talented illustrator, graffiti writer, and graphic designer, he has been running a local streetwear/skateboard/graffiti store “Markershop” and original apparel brand “Lobster Apparel” together with his partner Jeppy.
Centoは自分がこれまで出会った中でも群を抜いて頭のキレる人物。才能豊かなイラストレイター、グラフィティライター、グラフィックデザイナーであり、また“Markershop”というローカルなストリートウェア/スケボー/グラフィティショップと“Lobster Apparel”というオリジナルのクロージングレーベルをパートナーであるJeppyと目下運営中。

My main mission of this visit was sneaking into the Markershop 8 year anniversary party and discussing about our future collaboration.
そのMarkershopの8周年記念パーティに潜入する事と、コラボレーションプロジェクトの打ち合わせが今回のメインの目的。

In addition, the Veneto region is the center of Italian bicycle industry.
加えてこのトレヴィゾが位置するヴェネト州は、イタリア自転車産業の中心地でもあるわけで。

Therefore, I made some bicycle-related-visit as well for other on-going projects.
自転車関連のアポイントメントも時間の許す限り消化。

Also I visited Fabrica which is famous for their unique educational program even they are not an official educational institute.
更に厳密には教育機関とは言い難いものの、独自のデザイナー育成システムで国際的に有名なファブリカを視察。

During my free time, I took a walk in beautiful old town of Venice which is located right next to Treviso.
空いた時間でトレヴィゾのすぐ隣に位置する古都ヴェニスを散歩。

For the rest, we keep it local as usual.
あとはローカルなスポットでローカルなメンツと。

舞台はニューヨーク。ファッションや音楽に代表されるポップカルチャーを牽引する、いわゆるクリエイティブマインドの若き大御所達が、タイトルのとおり『インフルーエンサー』について独自の解釈を語る様子を追いながら、トレンドとブランディングの関係やそこに秘められた新しい可能性を紐解いていくというトータル13分ほどの短い映像作品。製作元クリエイティブエージェンシーのセルフプロモーション的な意味合いが強く、語られる内容そのものには全く新しさはないものの、効果的なグラフィック処理と扇情的なBGMによってスタイリッシュかつインフォーマティブに仕上げられており、完成度が高く見応えがあるので是非視聴されたし。

In New York, young “creative minds”, the people leading pop culture such as fashion and music, share their thought about “influencers” as the title mentioned. Their discussion unveils intimate relationship between trend and branding plus hidden possibility behind them. The film itself is more or less self promotion of the creative agency and there are not much spanking new information inside, however; it worth watching because of its quality finish including effective graphic treatment and choice of BGM, which make this work quite stylish and informative at the same time.

個人的に注目したいのは、トレンディーなポップカルチャーにおけるブランディングの一例として自転車がでてくる点である。ここで例としてあげられているLivestrongプロジェクトはサイクリングというコンペティティブなスポーツを、(ランス・アームストロングというアイコニックな存在を介して）誰もがアクセシブルなポップカルチャーにまで押し上げた非常に価値のあるプロジェクトであり、更に商業的にも大成功を収めた希有なケースであると言ってよいだろう。

My personal interest went straight towards the fact that a bicycle shown as an example of branding within the context of trendy pop culture. Livestrong campaign was a incredibly valuable project that brought a simply competitive sport into the “pop” field which is accessible from everyone and that gained huge success in terms of the sales (by using Lance Armstrong as an iconic figure).

そしてここオランダにも強大な影響力を持つ若き『インフルーエンサー』が一人いる。その名はナルデン。クリエイティブ職に携わる者なら誰しもが一目を置く存在であり、オランダのみならずヨーロッパ諸国や北米にも名を轟かす文字通りのインフルーエンサー。そんなナルデンのインフルーエンスの源泉は自身のブログである。デジタルガジェットからラグジュアリーカーまで幅広い分野から、常に新鮮でクオリティの高い情報をセレクトして発信し続ける彼のブログに取り上げてもらうべく、世界中の企業がこぞって新製品を彼に送りつけるのだ。Nike、Vodafone、Vitraといったスポンサーリストからもその影響力の片鱗を伺い知る事ができるであろう。

Here in Holland, we also have one great “influencer” to our youth culture; Nalden. His name is pretty much well known among the creative industry not only in the Netherlands but also whole European and North American countries. The true influencer Nalden’s influential source is his weblog. Ranging from digital gadgets to high-end luxury cars, he has been selecting fresh and high quality information through his unique filter. Now companies around the worlds are constantly sending him their new products, hoping him to put them on the blog which attracts numerous sponsors including Nike, Vodafone, and Vitra.

そんなナルデン、つい最近Wetransferという大容量ファイル転送サービスをラウンチしたり、オンラインショップを290sqmと共同で自サイト内に立ち上げたりと勢いが増すばかりであるが、自転車に関してもしっかりとというかちゃっかりとチェックをいれていて、お互いに良好な関係を継続中。加えて本人が日本に対して並々ならぬ興味を抱いている事もあって、なんとなーくプロジェクトが進行中。乞うご期待。

Recently Nalden launched Wetransfer, a brand new online file-transfer service with sophisticated interface design and has just opened a newly online shop within nalden.net cooperated with 290sqm. Also he has been keen to the urban bicycle culture, and we have been cool each other so far. In addition, his interest towards Japanese market made us slowly pushing our collaborative project. Polomotion 2010 – Indoor Hardcourt Bike Polo Tournament
Ladies and gentlemen, EHVFXD proudly announces Polomotion 2010, the international indoor Hardcourt Bike Polo tournament in Utrecht NL. Polomotion takes place in Jaarbeurs Utrecht alongside Bike Motion Benelux 2010, the second largest bicycle trade show in Europe. About Hardcourt Bike Polo
Hardcourt Bike Polo is played by two teams of three players on a smooth and hard surfaced floor. Players ride their bicycles with sticks called “mallets” in order to strike a ball into their opponents’ goal. Any type of bicycle is allowed with a few limitation such as no shape edges. Recently Hardcourt Bike Polo has been gaining more and more attention as the hottest urban sport because of the growing player numbers and an international community forming.

ギャリーとモーがこのショップをスタートさせたのは2004年の4月。
Gary and Mo opened up this great shop back in April 2004.

名前の由来は勿論日本が世界に誇る競輪。二人とも競輪に限らず日本の自転車カルチャーに造詣が深い。
The shop name came from Japanese Keirin, they love Keirin and Japanese cycle culture.

2009年から始まったこのWHBPC、2回目となる今年はベルリンでの開催。
Following the first edition in 2009, Berlin hosted the second one for 2010.

ヨーロッパ各国はもとより、アメリカ、カナダ、オーストラリア、ニュージーランドからバイクポロ愛好家達が集結。
The competitors came from Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.

自分のチームは25位で終了。
We ended up in 25th place.

バイクポロは本気で楽しい。近いうちに色々書きたいと思う。
